DOT Ministries, Inc is a Christian faith-based nonprofit organization benefiting teens and adults of our community by serving others. We focus on Developing Our Teens by connecting the dots between community, service, and faith. Meetings and fundraising throughout the year prepare us for our main event – an annual mission trip in June.
Our 9 day mission trip gives high school aged teens hands-on experience with discipleship – learning and living the teachings of Jesus Christ. Under the chaperoning of selected adults, the teens bring the compassion of Christ to the people they encounter, as they undertake various home repairs and small construction projects. Each service day includes a worship service, hard work at the sites, reflective discussions at the end of the day and fellowship. Adults work alongside the teens to serve as mentors and supervisors of the repair work, and to generally offer support to the teens on their faith journeys.
DOT Ministries, Inc is proud to carry on a 27 year history of mission trips to the Appalachian region. Over the years, the trip has grown from a group of around 20 to a group of over 90 high school teens, college students and adults traveling annually to Whitesville, West Virginia to serve residents in Boone and Raleigh counties. During our history our teens have served over 100 individuals and families through these trips.
At the end of the mission trip, the teens are reminded of the focus of the trip – the service, community, and faith experienced during the week. They are challenged to take the lessons learned from their experiences and to extend discipleship beyond the borders of the trip into their daily lives. We are proud to say they accept their assignments and go forth to practice discipleship in their communities. Many return to West Virginia year after year to continue serving and expanding their community on the trip.
